Vietnam is a rapidly growing economy which has invested heavily in the Mekong Delta region with existing exports in horticulture as cashew, coffee, passion/dragon fruit and banana and aquaculture products. The Netherlands and Vietnam are cooperating through a Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Transformation in the Mekong Delta, which also includes logistics cooperation. Several Dutch port-logistic related companies are active or have identified opportunies, like Boskalis.
A central cold chain facility in the Mekong Delta area will allow for Vietnam to leverage their waterways and use them for transport of perishables.
