Morocco - Agadir Cool Port for Short-Sea Shipping

Description:

Morocco is an important and upcoming sourcing country in fruit and vegetables for the Netherlands, especially for citrus (75.000 tonnes) and tomatoes (38.000 tonnes).  For sourcing of produce from ‘further away’ it is critical to lower CO2 emissions by a modal shift from truck to short-sea shipping. A transition of production from the Netherlands to Northern-Africa, and especially Morocco, is expected and will be accelerated due to current gas prices. This consolidation facility will enable this transition.
